PLAINCI Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 23, 2026 Controller/Developer: Fırat Onurcan Polat Contact: firat_p@hotmail.com
PLAINCI helps users scan cosmetic and personal-care ingredient labels and view educational, source-backed ingredient information. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the PLAINCI mobile application, website, and support services.
Information We Process
- Account and identifiers: an anonymous or signed-in account identifier, authentication information handled by Firebase Authentication, installation identifiers, app version, locale, country or storefront, and time zone.
- Scans and user content: label images you choose to capture or import, extracted ingredient text, scan results, saved products, and preferences you choose to store. Text recognition is performed on-device where available. Images are not used for advertising, marketing, facial recognition, or cross-app tracking.
- Subscription information: product purchased, subscription status, transaction environment, renewal/expiration state, and purchase history supplied by Apple and RevenueCat. PLAINCI does not receive your full payment-card details.
- Diagnostics and usage information: app interactions, crash reports, and device/OS characteristics when analytics collection is enabled and legally permitted.
- Notifications: push token, notification preferences, locale and time zone when you choose to enable notifications.
- Support communications: information you send when requesting help, exercising a privacy right, or reporting a problem.
Do not enter medical records, diagnoses, or other unnecessary sensitive information. Ingredient preferences may reveal information you consider sensitive; they are used only to provide the feature you requested and are not used for advertising.
How We Use Information
We process information to provide label scanning and ingredient explanations; save your on-device library; manage free usage limits and Pro access; process and restore subscriptions; send notifications you request; prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; diagnose crashes and improve reliability; provide support; comply with law; and establish or defend legal claims.
Where applicable, our legal bases include performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in securing and improving the service, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw optional consent in the app or device settings without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Service Providers
We use vendors acting on our behalf, including Apple (App Store, StoreKit and push notifications), Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, messaging, app integrity, analytics and crash reporting as configured), RevenueCat (subscription management), and OpenAI (server-side fallback processing for unresolved ingredient text). PLAINCI does not send label photos, account contact details, saved preferences, or medical information to OpenAI. OpenAI API requests are configured not to persist application state and are not used to train OpenAI models unless the developer explicitly opts in; standard abuse-monitoring retention may still apply. Providers process information under their own terms and applicable data-protection commitments. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention
- Raw label images: processed on-device and not uploaded by default; PLAINCI releases its working copy after recognition. A photo you selected remains in your Photos library until you remove it there.
- Extracted text and analysis requests: the full raw label is not retained by the backend; bounded analysis results and a one-way input hash may be kept for up to two days to make retries reliable and are also removed through account deletion.
- Saved scans and preferences: retained until you delete them or your account.
- Push tokens: retained until invalid, opted out, or the account is deleted.
- Subscription and webhook records: retained as needed for entitlement integrity, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
- Security logs and support records: retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected.
Your Choices and Rights
You can use core features without creating a named account. You may disable camera, photo, notification, and analytics permissions through the app or device settings. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent, or objection where local law provides those rights. California residents may also request disclosure, correction or deletion and may opt out of sale/sharing; PLAINCI does not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising. Submit requests to firat_p@hotmail.com.
Account deletion is available in the app. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel it in Apple subscription settings. We may verify a request and retain limited records where legally required.
International Transfers
Information may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions or contractual protections. Users in the EEA, UK, Türkiye, Brazil and other regulated regions may contact firat_p@hotmail.com for transfer details or to reach the responsible representative, if one is required.
Children
PLAINCI is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without valid authorization. Contact us if you believe a child provided information improperly.
Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit, app-integrity checks, least-privilege service access, data minimization, rate limits and monitoring. No system is completely secure; report suspected issues to firat_p@hotmail.com.
Educational Purpose
PLAINCI provides general ingredient information. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or provide medical advice, and ingredient presence alone cannot determine whether a product is appropriate for a particular person.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy and will post the new effective date and provide additional notice when required. Questions or complaints may be sent to firat_p@hotmail.com. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
